Nuove alleanze nel porto di Gioia Tauro
La Msc approda a Gioia Tauro, dopo aver acquisito il 33% delle azioni della Medcenter Container Terminal (Mct), società che gestisce il terminal del porto.
“Si conclude, così – ha dichiarato il presidente dell’Autorità Portuale Giovanni Grimaldi – un ambito iter che vede giungere a Gioia Tauro la seconda compagnia di navigazione più importante al mondo. Il pacchetto azionario del gruppo è stato così suddiviso in tre quote eguali, ognuno al 33%, tra la Mct, Maersk ed Msc. Insieme, questi tre colossi del mare potranno lavorare in sinergia per garantire la crescita del nostro porto. Ho salutato con grande plauso la trattativa appena conclusa perché credo si tratti di un importantissimo accordo per il futuro dello scalo. In questo modo la Msc di Luigi Aponte si radica in modo definitivo nella banchina portuale di Gioia Tauro. Sono certo che la nuova alleanza, con la presenza diretta di Msc in Calabria, sarà foriera di positivi e futuri risultati. Da oggi – ha aggiunto Grimaldi – si potrà guardare con rinvigorito spirito positivo agli sviluppi dei traffici e, quindi, alla crescita del nostro scalo portuale che, infrastrutturalmente, ha tutte le carte in regola per ritornare a guidare la leadership del circuito internazionale del transhipment nel Mediterraneo”.
Contship Italia, operatore del settore gestione terminal container portuali e nel trasporto intermodale, ha siglato un contratto che prevede la cessione del 50% di CSM ITALIA-GATE S.p.A., la sub-holding che controlla il 66,7% di Medcenter Container Terminal, a Terminal Investment Limited – TIL.
Til è uno dei principali operatori globali di terminal container presente con i propri investimenti in 16 paesi nei cinque continenti e movimenta 15 milioni di container. Til è una società riconducibile a Mediterranean Shipping Company S.a. – MSC, la seconda compagnia armatoriale al mondo.
A seguito di tale operazione, Medcenter Container Terminal sarà detenuta pariteticamente con una quota pari ad un terzo dai tre partner: Contship Italia, APM Terminals e Terminal Investment Limited.
Il nuovo Consiglio di Amministrazione sarà composto da 6 membri, espressione di ciascuno dei tre partner, e così costituito: Presidente ed Amministratore Delegato di nomina Contship Italia, due Consiglieri di nomina TIL e due Consiglieri di nomina APM Terminals.

L’ingresso di TIL e la partnership con APM Terminals contribuiscono a rafforzare ulteriormente le relazioni commerciali e gli sviluppi organizzativi del terminal per far fronte alle sfide del mercato del trasporto contenitori in un momento particolarmente difficile a livello globale”.
A breve 3 nuovi servizi saranno avviati da Msc nel porto di Gioia Tauro che sarà collegato con strategiche vie di navigazione. In particolare, a fine mese, giungerà il servizio “Canada Express” che unisce Gioia Tauro a Montreal con frequenza settimanale. Successivamente, sarà attivato il servizio “Spain Saec” che collegherà, settimanalmente, i porti del Sud America con lo scalo. Nel mese di marzo, inoltre, sarà attivato il nuovo servizio “Jade” che unirà, anche questo con frequenza settimanale, gli scali di Shangai-Singapore con quelli del Mediterraneo passando per Gioia Tauro”.
