All’aeroporto di Fiumicino inaugurato l’Innovation Hub, ADR investe sulle startup
È stato inaugurato questa mattina, all’aeroporto di Roma Fiumicino, l’Innovation Hub, un vero e proprio acceleratore di impresa dedicato allo sviluppo di soluzioni innovative nel comparto aeroportuale, situato in una struttura di 650 metri quadri nel cuore del Terminal 1. L’Hub ospiterà giovani startupper italiani e provenienti da ogni parte del mondo, che potranno contare sia su un investimento di ADR nel capitale delle proprie startup, sia sul pieno supporto delle strutture aeroportuali. ADR ha creato un team interno di 30 innovatori, una vera e propria “Innovation Cabin Crew”, al fine di testare sul campo i propri servizi, a stretto contatto con tecnici e passeggeri. Il periodo di accelerazione nello scalo, in media di 6 mesi, consentirà alle startup di finalizzare al meglio i propri progetti, facilitandone l’entrata sul mercato e sfruttando anche la rete internazionale “Airports for Innovation” di cui ADR fa parte insieme agli scali spagnoli del Gruppo Aena, quelli di Atene e Nizza.
C’è ad esempio il robot che consegna food&beverage ai passeggeri ovunque si trovino nell’aeroporto, quello alimentato a energia solare che pulisce i terminal muovendosi in autonomia e, una volta a riposo, si trasforma in una comoda panchina. E poi una sedia a rotelle a guida autonoma, in grado di trasportare i viaggiatori che richiedono supporto per la deambulazione dall’ingresso dei terminal fino ai gate. O, ancora, soluzioni di intelligenza artificiale che rendono più veloci ed efficienti i controlli di sicurezza e la gestione dei bagagli, oltre che più sostenibile il turnaround degli aeromobili in piazzola, riducendo le emissioni di C02.
Il programma di innovazione di ADR, che al momento ha pianificato un programma di investimenti di 50 milioni di euro, è stato ideato circa un anno fa, con il lancio della prima “Call for ideas” volta a ingaggiare startup da tutto il mondo per sviluppare a Fiumicino le proprie soluzioni in sei ambiti aeroportuali: miglioramento della puntualità; sistemi data driven; automazione dei processi; riduzione dei consumi energetici; passenger digital experience e servizi commerciali omnichannel. Alla call hanno manifestato interesse circa 530 startup in tutto il mondo, di cui 96 (62 italiane e 34 straniere) hanno presentato la propria candidatura. L’intero processo di selezione è avvenuto con il supporto di Plug and Play, il più importante investitore privato in startup della Silicon Valley, con più di 40.000 startup in portafolio, di cui 21 “Unicorn” con una valutazione superiore a 1 miliardo di dollari. Le startup identificate al termine della prima call sono state 10: sono tutte nate circa 5 anni fa e i loro fondatori sono per la gran parte under 30. A queste si aggiungono altre 3 startup con cui ADR sta lavorando proprio in questi mesi.
