AEA: le aviolinee non devono diventare il bersaglio di ritorsioni
Le compagnie aeree non devono diventare il bersaglio di azioni di ritorsione innescate da una difesa della sovranità nazionale contro la politica europea. Lo afferma l’associazione delle compagnie aeree europee (AEA-Association of European Airlines) dopo che il 21 e il 22 febbraio i rappresentanti di diversi paesi non Ue si sono incontrati a Mosca per coordinare la loro opposizione all’inclusione dell’aviazione nell’Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) dell’Unione europea arrivando ad una dichiarazione congiunta e alla proposta di diverse misure di rivalsa contro l’industria europea. “La situazione è totalmente inaccettabile. Le aviolinee non devono essere prese in ostaggio dai politici o forzate a competere con serie distorsioni del mercato” ha dichiarato il segretario generale dell’AEA Ulrich Schulte-Strathaus. “Abbiamo sollecitato entrambe le parti a concentrarsi sul ‘core objective’, la gestione globale delle emissioni dell’aviazione, piuttosto che su quello – ha aggiunto – di vincere una battaglia di sovranità”. Per l’AEA i paesi europei e quelli non europei possono avere diversi punti di vista riguardo alle implicazioni sulla sovranità dell’EU ETS, ma devono convenire che un approccio globale al problema è la strada migliore per gestire le “aviation emissions”, riconoscendo che questa soluzione deve essere trovata dall’Icao, lo “specialist body” delle Nazioni Unite per l’aviazione civile. Se non è giusto forzare l’Unione europea a cambiare le sue leggi, è altrettanto ingiusto imporre gli standard europei al resto del mondo ha osservato Schulte-Strathaus per il quale la sola strada per andare avanti resta quella dell’Icao.
